Research title: Maritime Gaels: a Social History of Fishing Work in the Highland and Hebrides c. 1750-1914
Research Summary
My PhD explores work and the environment as it was experienced, understood and made by Gaelic-speaking fishers in the western Scottish Highlands in the long nineteenth century.
Through combining archaeological and historical methods, my research offers new perspectives on experiences of the Highland Clearances and their aftermath through study of the labour of people who experienced clearance.
