Biography

Dr Hassan Ismahel is a current cardiology theme specialised/academic foundation programme (doctor) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the BHF Cardiovascular Research Centre at the University of Glasgow, where he works with the Heart Failure research group.

Hassan obtained degrees in Medicine (Hons) and a first-class honours degree in critical care and perioperative medicine from the University of Glasgow. His intercalated degree was awarded the Wolfson Foundation & Royal College of Physicians Intercalated Research Fellowship Award, and he was the Michael Harrison medallist for the top-performing student.

Hassan has a strong research interest in cardiology and medical education. He has published and presented widely, nationally and internationally and has been the recipient of several major awards, prizes, and scholarships. He has contributed to the design and delivery of large-scale teaching initiatives and was awarded an Associate Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy.
